My nutritionist has advised me not to follow the extreme low carb diet that I just started. Reason being; I actively play tennis (about 10 hours a week) and I need the energy levels that carbs provide. I mean, Adkins calls for daily carbohydrates not to exceed 20 grams. Let me tell you, that ain't much. For instance, a four piece serving of Crystal Light sugar free hard candy has a whopping 13 grams. Criminy matey! Therefore I'm scaling back. Having said that, I'm still lugging around more pounds than this frame should hold, so I will continue my observance of Lent by giving up flours including breads, cereals and some starches like potatoes, peas, corn.  In 6 weeks I'll see how much I lost. I'm at 209 1/2 right now. Having never lost weight in my life, anything is a start. A personal goal would be to eventually get back into the 100's, like 195.  One thing I've noticed already is how I analyse food choices, as I'm writing down (a food diary) everything I eat and drinking a lot more water. Hey beer is made with water, right??
